---------------------------------------------------------------
This seminar features weekly readings in recent Western-language scholarship on Chinese religious history, with particular focus on the methodological features of the works being discussed. |
課程目標 |
The goal of this seminar is for graduate students to attain a more thorough understanding of trends shaping the study of Chinese religious history, as well as enhance their appreciation of the strengths and weaknesses of academic writing. Regular exposure to a wide range of readings should also help improve students’ ability to read English-language scholarship. |
課程要求 |
All students will be required to take part in class discussions, prepare 500-1,000 word abstracts on the weekly readings, present an oral report, and write a review of a Western-language book. All abstracts plus oral and written reports may be done in Chinese. |
